Science
Look Ma No Hands
Here is the first Science related podcast. It discusses the possibility of not texting but using voice activated devices and the dangers that these devices still present to a driving public. This podcast is from Scientific America - 60 second Science. A great way to open a discussion about a real world and relevant to our world today.
The-physics-of-football
Here is the second Science Podcast. The only drawback for this one is that it is very long but would still work as a good place to start the discussion of physics. I will have to play around with this one a bit in order to get it to a use able podcast.
Math
Estimating Fractions with Justin
These are middle school student created podcasts (With video) explaining math concepts. They are linked to the common core standards and are done on Ipads. I found them to be very enjoyable and hope to find some done on science very soon. Here is the mother site for these types of podcasts: http://mathtrain.tv/
Math in action
Watch the Cake Artistry Video -- very informative about math in the real world (all of them are). I alos like that it provides discussion questions and extension activities for the class. I think some of my math teachers will enjoy this site, can't wait to share with my colleagues
I hope you guys enjoy these -- I have definitely gotten some ideas from you podcasts, what a way to incorporate technology into our classrooms..
For my Seventh and Eighth grade classes. Created for my ESL 650 class at UAB
